Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources.
The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:
Community Health Services:
WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Migrant Seasonal Head Start, and Child Development Center.
Clinical Health Services:
Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services.

Ultrasound Technician- Part Time Areas of Responsibility:
The Ultrasound Technician shall provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures to examine parts of the human body including the abdomen, reproductive systems, prostate, heart, and blood vessels.
The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating the results of diagnostic examinations using sonography.
The Ultrasound Technician is also responsible for daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assurance and assessment (QA).
The Ultrasound Technician shall always maintain a high standard of medical ethics and shall continually increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.
MajorDuties:
Perform clinical assessments and diagnostic sonography examinations.
Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information.

Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information, and medical history, and communicate findings to the proper physician.
Coordinates work schedule with other related staff and supervisor, and/or schedulers to assure that workload is covered.
Assumes responsibility for the safety, and mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the care of the Ultrasound Technician.
Aid with the daily operations of the sonographic laboratory.
Maintain a daily log of patients seen and complete exam billing forms.
Participate in the maintenance of ultrasound laboratory accreditation.
Establish and keep ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospitals, referrals, vendors, or commercial agencies.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Perform all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
Prepare preliminary reports and contact referring physicians when needed, according to established procedures.
Coordinate with other staff to assure proper patient care is provided.
Address problems of patient care as they arise and make decisions to appropriately resolve the problems.
Organize daily work schedule and perform related clerical duties as needed.
Assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of all patients in the sonographic area/department.
Reports equipment failures to the proper supervisor or staff member.
Supplies in-service education team on requirements of sonographic procedures as requested by other members of the health care team.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
Clinical setting is dimly lit and temperature-controlled, with standard medical and office equipment available.
The noise level within the clinic setting is average.
Work may require meeting tight deadlines.
May need to stand for extended periods of time May need to be able to lift and turn patients who are ill or disabled.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, stand and walk.

Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office and medical equipment.

Must regularly talk, hear, and have close vision ability to record and communicate appropriate documents and records.

Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.

Physically able to reposition patients and lift arms above shoulder level.

Physically able to push a patient in a wheelchair.
7.
Heavy lifting:
up to 100 lbs.
maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50lbs.
Must be able to stand, stoop and lift and walk without restrictions.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Grade 11 Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) preferred.
Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies)as appropriate.
Current BLS.

12 Meet the minimum qualifications above and US tech with two-three years of experience preferably in clinical nursing, public health, or community health setting.

14 Meet the minimum qualifications above and Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA-approved school and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) OR US tech with seven
years of experience preferably in clinical nursing, public health, or community health setting.
