Medical Support Staff

Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources.
The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:
Community Health Services:
WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Migrant Seasonal Head Start, and Child Development Center.
Clinical Health Services:
Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services.
Supportive Health Services:
Family Stabilization, a Teen Outreach Program, SOAR, Youth Leadership Program, Youth Shelter and Housing Assistance Programs.

Responsibilities:
Assist Health Center patients from intake to checkout for their clinical visit.
Ensure patient satisfaction with emphasis on customer service as well as completion of clinical data entry of all required agency forms.
The MSS must monitor electronic medical chart for accuracy and continuity.
Maior Duties:

Play an active role in Patient Services using the provider led, team-based Patient-Centered Medical Home Care Model.
Work with assigned provider team to achieve and maintain a high level of patient care.
Ensure patients receive care in an efficient, effective and courteous manner, supporting patient care that is accessible, continuous, comprehensive, evidence-based, family-centered, coordinated, compassionate and culturally effective.
Follow clinic procedures and workflows including but not limited to; scheduling, rooming, collecting vital signs, AlC/blood sugar, patient check out and clinical data entry in the electronic health record.
Implement procedures for accurate and timely maintenance of patient's electronic health record, including but not limited to reviewing and monitoring of records for missing forms or data updates.
Answer telephones, create phone notes and/or message(s), document patient question/issue/concern and forward to assigned provider team, and prepare charts for appointments.
Support integrated patient care by providing both internal and community resource information and/or materials written in the patient's preferred language, for patients and their families.
Prepare exam rooms for patients by removing paper from exam tables; wiping down and disinfecting all areas, turn lights off and turn room to vacant.
Work in the rotating clinic chore schedule.
Maintain confidentiality of Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska patient information, medical records and communications per CAPWN policies and procedures.
Attend meetings, in-services and training as required.

Working Conditions:
Clinic environment:
90% Training, Meetings, and Community interaction:
10% Well-lit, temperature-controlled clinical setting, with standard medical and office equipment available.
Work requires meeting tight deadlines.
Work in a clinic setting in a state of change with many interruptions and interactions.
Must be required to work irregular hours.
The noise level in the work environment is average.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to frequently bend, stoop, squat, walk and pull drawers.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office and medical equipment.
Must regularly talk, hear and have close vision ability to record and communicate appropriate documents and records.
Ability to push a patient in a wheelchair.
Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Grade:
11 High School diploma or GED.
Basic Nursing Assistant certification.
Knowledge of office procedures and methods including telephone communications, office systems and record keeping, use of computer with at least one year of experience.
Strong interpersonal and initiative skills, Proficient level of oral and written communication skills.
Physically and mentally able to perform duties.
Grade:
12 Meet the minimum qualifications above, with:
Medical Assistant Certification One year of experience of office procedures and data entry or three years MSS experience, preferably in a health clinic setting.
Grade:
13 Meet the minimum qualifications above, with Associate's degree Three years of experience of office procedures and data entry or five years MSS experience, preferably in a health clinic setting.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
