Progress Rail Services Corporation , a Caterpillar company and leading supplier of parts and services for the railroad industry, is seeking a M aintenance Mechanic for our Gering, NE facility.
Reports to Maintenance Supervisor. Must be able to work overtime and weekends to meet business demands. Must be flexible with shift hours.

Duties:
Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machinery, devices, moving parts and equipment that operates primarily on electromechanical principles.
Installing new and used equipment.
Regular scheduled preventative maintenance on heavy industrial machinery and forklifts.
Operating vehicles, mechanized equipment or devices.
Reading drawings, blueprints, schematics and sketches.
General construction such as minor plumbing, painting and other tasks as required.
General knowledge and use of maintenance shop tools such as sockets, ratchets, hand grinders and cutting torch, band saw, drills and air tools.
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
2 years or more experience or professional training with mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
2 years or more experience or professional training with fork truck or heavy machinery repairs.
2 years or more experience with overhead crane and hoist repairs, inspections and maintenance.
2 years or more experience with lathe maintenance and repairs.
Fanuc robotics, CNC milling machine trouble shooting experience preferred.
Must be able to multitask and supervise others.
Must have a complete understanding of safe work practices and inspire team to follow all safety rules and standards.
Must have prior experience with Microsoft Office Windows Applications.
Must be welding certified.
Passing score on test for mechanical reasoning. This test measures knowledge of straightforward mechanical and phuysical concepts involving levers,pulleys, gears, springs, simple electrical circuits, tools and shop arithmetic.
Essential Job Functions:
Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting, climbing, standing /walking on concrete floor/gravel and other uneven surfaces.
Majority of work is inside. Exposure to welding fumes, oil, grease, cleaning agents.
Some work required outside in all types of weather conditions (rain, sleet, snow, wind, dust, extreme heat/cold).
Ability to read precision gauges and instruments.
Ability to read and understand mechanical, hydraulic, electrical maintenance manuals.
